Dream Cup Barbados event cancelled, delays Andy Murray’s tennis comeback

The Dream Cup exhibition tournament in Barbados has reportedly been cancelled.

The event which was scheduled to begin on November 28 has been plagued with problems in terms of sponsorships and broadcast rights which led to its cancellation.

Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray was slated to make his tennis comeback at this event. Murray was sidelined for several months after undoing a back surgery in September. He’s been seen practicing in his training base in Miami this week.

Murray’s next tournament will be at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi which is also an exhibition event. He will begin his 2014 season at the Qatar Open in Doha, opting not to defend the Brisbane International title. The British star has yet to confirm whether he will participate at the Australian Open 2014 tournament, saying he wants to compete if he’s already at “100 percent.”
