Federer, Nadal disagree with Djokovic’s views on Troicki’s doping case

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal did not agree with Novak Djokovic’s views regarding the anti-doping rules. Djokovic made tennis headlines after stating that the reduction of Viktor Troicki’s ban from 18 months to 12 months was “a total injustice” because his friend and compatriot from Serbia was not given proper explanation about the consequences of not giving the required sample immediately.

Overall, I trust the [anti-doping] system,” Federer said on Thursday at the ATP World Tour Finals in London. “I think they’re all very professional.

“I do believe that when you are requested for a sample, you have to give the sample,” Federer added. “It doesn’t matter how bad you feel. I’m sorry. The test the next day is not a test anymore because what could have happened overnight, you know? I don’t believe anything.”

“We have rules,” Nadal said on Wednesday. “We can like [the rules] or not, but we have rules. I am very sorry for Viktor because I believe 100 percent in him. Probably the doctor make the mistake. But he knows that he has to pass the doping [test].”
