Martina Hingis gets questioned by police over assault charges by estranged husband

Former top-ranked Martina Hingis was reportedly questioned by Swiss police in connection with the allegations of her estranged husband that he was attached by the tennis star and her family.

According to reports, Hingis, her mother Melanie Molitor and her mother’s boyfriend Mario Widmer were interviewed at Schwyz canton police headquarters a week ago. This was revealed by Police spokesperson Florian Grossmann on Wednesday.

French equestrian athlete Thibault Hutin accused his wife of attacking him on September 23 at his home in Feusisberg. Hutin added that Hingis and Molitor hit him while Widmer hit him with a DVD player. For now Grossmann said that the canton justice department is mulling on any possible action against the accused.

Hingis and Hutin married in December 2010 and their separation attracted media coverage in July this year. Hingis’ camp denied the allegations last month.

Hingis, 33, made a return at the WTA tour a few months ago to play doubles with Daniela Hantuchova. The results did not meet expectations, having not gone beyond the second round in all of the tournaments they’ve participated.
