Martina Hingis to play singles match in Australia by January 2014

Is this a sign that Martina Hingis is about to make a singles comeback on tour?

Reports surfaced that the seven-time Grand Slam titlist will be back to play singles tennis in Adelaide, Australia in January 2014. However, it’s been stressed that she will only be playing an exhibition legends match against former tennis pro Nicole Bradtke of Australia at the 2014 World Tennis Challenge.

The event will take place at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre from January 7 to 9, 2014.

The location of the exhibition match also hosts an ATP event featuring Frenchman Jeremy Chardy, Austrian veteran Jürgen Melzer, Spain’s Feliciano Lopez and 17-year-old Australian teenager Thanasi Kokkinakis.

“I am really looking forward to my return to Adelaide. Australians love their sport and Adelaide is a great place for me to come and spend a few days,” Hingis said.

A men’s legend tournament will also take place in Adelaide featuring Mats Wilander, Yannick Noah, Pat Cash, Henri Leconte and Mansour Bahrami.
