Nadal visits poor neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, plays with local children

World number one Rafael Nadal of Spain played with the local children hailing from some of the poorest neighborhoods in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires on Tuesday. The tennis superstar was joined by City Mayor Mauricio Macri at a tennis clinic that was hosted in Villa 20.

The 27-year old gave tennis lessons to children participating in a city government-backed sports program.

As expected, Nadal was mobbed by locals asking for autographs and a chance to have a photograph with him.

“I want to thank you very much for coming here to play with them and conveying what you show when you play, which is passion, commitment
and guts,” Macri said.

“This tour of Argentina, Peru and Chile has given me an infusion of positive energy. I’m going to enjoy this time, which is not work and
has allowed me to visit friends and think about next year,” Nadal said during the press conference held the day before.

Nadal will have a busy schedule in Buenos Aires as he’s slated to play against David Nalbandian in two farewell exhibition events this week. Nalbandian has announced his retirement from professional tennis earlier this year.

Nadal will then face world number two Novak Djokovic in an exhibition event on Sunday.
