Novak Djokovic targets more Grand Slam titles after London win

World number two Novak Djokovic successfully defending the ATP World Tour Finals title this week thus ending his season on a 22-match winning streak. The Serbian defeated top-ranked Rafael Nadal at The O2 in London.

After the success in London, Djokovic is aiming for more Grand Slam titles beginning in the 2014 season.

“The Grand Slams are the tournaments where I want to win, where I want to get my hands on the title,” he said.

“That will be my highest priority for next year. It (2013) was very satisfying. After the last two and a half months, even more. But the only thing I’m not as satisfied about is the fact that I lost the three big matches in the three Grand Slams.

“The year-end number one is deservedly in Nadal’s hands because he had two Grand Slam wins, the best season out of all players, the most titles. You cannot question that.”

Djokovic will still be competing this week, this time in the final of the Davis Cup where his team will face Czech Republic.

“God knows if we are going to have as a country another opportunity, another generation like this, to win a Davis Cup title at home,” he added.

“I’m going to do my best to recover the next three days and get ready for that one.”
