Rafael Nadal just two matches away from clinching year-end number one ranking

Current world number one Rafael Nadal is now just two matches away from securing the year-end number one ranking. The Spaniard will only need to win two matches at the round robin stages of the ATP World Tour Finals this week to end the battle for the year-end supremacy against Serbian Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic has kept the battle alive after winning three consecutive titles since his US Open final loss. Djokovic successfully defended his titles in Beijing and Shanghai and defeated defending champion David Ferrer at the Paris Masters final on Sunday.

Should Nadal fail to win two matches in London, Djokovic could become year-end world number one for the third straight year if he wins the ATP World Tour Finals undefeated and also win his two matches at the Davis Cup final against Czech Republic next week.
