Rafael Nadal to play three exhibition matches in Argentina, versus Nalbandian and Djokovic

World number one Rafael Nadal has a very busy schedule in the next few days as he’s slated to participate in three exhibition matches in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Nadal will play two exhibition matches against former Wimbledon finalist and former world number three David Nalbandian. Nalbandian has announced earlier this year that he will be retiring from professional tennis. Their first exhibition match will take place at Orfeo Stadium in Cordoba on Thursday and their second clash will be in Buenos Aires on Saturday.

On Sunday, Nadal will face world number two Novak Djokovic in what is expected to be a stellar match even though it is touted as an exhibition event which won’t have any bearings in the rankings. Djokovic came from a Davis Cup final in Belgrade where his team lost to defending champion Czech Republic.

“I am very happy to be in Argentina and also to take part in the farewell of a close friend like Nalbandian,” Nadal was quoted by local media.

“I remember the exulting Argentine public of that final against Gaudio and also in the 2011 Davis Cup final in Sevilla. I am sure that Nalbandian will have a warm farewell,” the Spaniard said, referring to his past visits in the Argentine city.
