Serena Williams to gun for all four Grand Slam titles in 2014

World number one Serena Williams stressed that she has no plans of slowing down and will gun for more glory during the 2014 season.

In an interview with CNN recently, the 17-time Grand Slam champion said that she’s eyeing more Grand Slam titles. Should she win at least two Grand Slam titles in 2014, she would overtake Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert who are tied with 18 Grand Slam singles titles apiece. The player with the most Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era is Steffi Graf at 22.

“It could have been the secret to my success or the secret to my demise. It is getting exciting. I have four grand slams next year to try and at least catch up with Martina and Chrissy so it will be really exciting.

“Hopefully I can do it but really being here 17 is fun, obviously I want more and I never want to stop until I reach my goals. I’m excited about just looking forward to the possibilities of next year.

“I started with 15 [slams] and this year I’m starting with 17 [next year] so hopefully I can win a couple… one, two or three, who knows? Any would be good for me.”

Williams is slated to begin her 2014 season at the Brisbane International which starts in late December where she’s the defending champion.
