Simona Halep ends coaching partnership with Adrian Marcu

World number 11 Simona Halep has had a phenomenal 2013 season which saw her winning six titles including the WTA Tournament of Champions title in Sofia, Bulgaria earlier this month. With these results, it would have made sense that she still continues her partnership with coach Adrian Marcu. However, that was not the case.

The former junior Grand Slam titlist has reportedly ended her coaching partnership with Marcu and there’s still no indication who she will be working with this 2014. The young Romanian is poised to make it in the world’s top ten for the first time and this could happen in January 2014 if she posts strong results during the Australian swing of tournaments.

Halep has clarified in Sofia that they still maintain a good relationship but she just wanted to pursue a different path in her career which includes working with other coaches.
