Coaches weigh in on Becker joining Djokovic’s team

Renowned Croatian coach Niki Pilic and Serbian Davis Cup captain Bogdan Obradovic shared their thoughts on the inclusion of tennis great Boris Becker on Novak Djokovic’s coaching team. Becker, a six-time Grand Slam titlist, will serve as head coach for the Serbian tennis star for the 2014 season.

“Different personalities, that’s for sure,” Pilic was quoted by Serbian website B92. “We have to wait and see what will happen — maybe he can offer him some good advice, who knows? Becker was No. 1 first in the world. For me this is a surprise, but it might turn out well.”

“On the one hand it can be a positive because Becker is motivated to do something on this front,” Obradovic shared. “[Former No. 1 Ivan] Lendl works as a coach, and has made good results with Andy [Murray]. This combination is very positive for me; it will be very interesting to see how it will unfold. It will be a huge challenge for the whole team of people around Novak.”
