Goffin to make tennis return from wrist surgery later this month

Belgian tennis player David Goffin is scheduled to make his comeback later this month at a tournament in New Caledonia. Goffin missed a few months on tour this season due to an injury wrist which required him to undergo surgery.

In an interview with DHnet.be, Goffin said: “The news is reassuring and most important is that I no longer feel any pain. And even though I’m still embarrassed sometimes on some balls, I have not the slightest apprehension. Yes, I will not deny that there is a great desire to play after a period of inactivity like the one I just know. It is for this reason that even exhibition games like Arlon face Christophe (Rochus) are good to take. ”

“Usually we do not have the time to work on this condition. Suddenly, it was an opportunity to do it thoroughly. I already feel very sharp and weeks that I had to prepare myself are today, I feel really good physically. Yes, I accepted an invitation to the tournament Caen where I’ll find some of the best French players. One begins to play from the knockout and I hope to play a few matches. Subsequently, on December 25 I’ll take the direction of Caledonia to play the tournament in Noumea. It is motivated by the fact that I am seeded and, through this, I should be able to play a lot of singles matches but twice. Which may not have been the case in one of $ 250,000 tournaments since my current ranking no longer allows me. ”

“It is far too early for me to give myself targets. I know that this long period of inactivity, it will be difficult to directly well play again. So it will be important to quickly match up in the legs to increase my level of play “
