Heather Watson hires Argentine coach for 2014 season

British tennis player Heather Watson has reportedly hired Diego Veronelli as her new coach. Veronelli, 34, was a former professional tennis player from Argentina who has achieved a career-high ranking of number 165 back in 2004.

Watson had sporadic results in 2013 since she spent a significant amount of time this year recovering from glandular fever which she contracted back in March. Back then, she achieved a career-high ranking of 39. She said she’s training hard for the 2014 season and feels fine as of the moment.

“It’s a trial period at the moment,” Watson said in a recent interview. (http://www.sportinglife.com/tennis/news/article/553/9058566/-)

“We’ve only just met each other so we’re still getting to know each other and learning about each other. It’s only been two weeks but so far it’s going really well and I’m working very hard.

“I can’t wait for 2014. When you start a new season it’s always kind of like the slate is wiped clean.”
