Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro defeated former top-ranked Lleyton Hewitt 6-2, 7-6 in an exhibition match that took place on Saturday at Buenos Aires.
Del Porto, the world number five, delighted his home fans after outlasting his Australian opponent.
“It makes me happy to be here, receive the love and thanks for providing a beautiful setting for this show,” Del Potro said.
Hewitt received a jersey from the local football club Lobo with his name emblazoned on the back.
Tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were in Argentina a few weeks ago for a series of exhibition matches.
