Kei Nishikori includes Michael Chang in his coaching team

Japan’s number one male tennis player Kei Nishikori announced via his official Facebook page that he has included former French Open champion Michael Chang in his coaching team.

Nishikori has reportedly been working with Chang in Southern Carlifornia for the past few weeks and this partnership could stretch to up to five months, meaning it will extend during the Australian Open series season in 2014. Dante Bottini, Nishikori’s coach for three years, will remain in the team with full-time capacity.

Chang, a former world number two, has coached Peng Shuai of China previously.

Nishikori will begin his 2014 season at the Brisbane International before proceeding to the Kooyong Classic exhibition event and the Australian Open in Melbourne. Nishikori will have a busy first quarter of the season with him committing to Davis Cup first round matches, Delray Beach and Acapulco.
