Maria Sharapova loses to Ivanovic in Bogota exhibition

Maria Sharapova was back in tennis action on Friday night after four months injury break at an exhibition event that took place in Bogota, Colombia. The Russian tennis superstar competed against Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic but lost in a tightly contested match. Ivanovic won 6-1, 1-6, 12-10. Instead of having a third set, they decided the match with a champions’ tie break.

“After months of not competing, tonight was a baby step forward! I missed this so much,” Sharapova tweeted.

Sharapova will be making her comeback to competitive tennis at the Brisbane International 2014 tournament which will take place later this month. The Australian Open 2014 tournament begins on January 13 in Melbourne.
