Andy Murray gets Heineken Open 2014 wildcard offer

After a shocking early upset at this week’s Qatar Open, world number four Andy Murray received a wildcard offer at next week’s Heineken Open 2014 which takes place in Auckland, New Zealand.

Murray lost to Florian Mayer of Germany in the second round of the ATP event in Doha this week. He was reportedly called on by Heineken Open Tournament Director Karl Budge if he could make the flight to New Zealand for next week.

Budge, according to a report from New Zealand Herald, is banking on the idea that Murray may want more practice ahead of the Australian Open which takes place later this month.
