Grigor Dimitrov to face Nadal in Australian Open quarterfinals

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov emerged as the victor in the battle of first time Grand Slam fourth-rounders on Monday at the Australian Open. The 22nd-seed defeated Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 24 minutes. The win means Dimitrov earns the right to face world number one Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

“I feel great actually,” he said during the on court interview.

“A bit tired actually, but we all know how Roberto is performing (at this event), what a great run, he gave me hell today.

“I’m just happy, you know. It’s great to be out here.”

Bautista Agut made headlines last week after ousting world number five Juan Martin Del Potro in the second round. Del Potro was fresh from a title victory in Sydney that weekend. The Spaniard would go on to defeat another seeded player – 27th-seed Benoit Paire in the third round.
