Navratilova believes Serena Williams can break 20-Slam title win mark

Former world number one Martina Navratilova believes that current top-ranked Serena Williams could very well win more than 20 Grand Slam titles and may even overtake the long-running record of Steffi Graf and Margaret Court.

“If she can stay healthy there is no doubt she can go into the 20s,” Navratilova was quoted as saying in Adelaide. “The sky is the limit. I know how hard it is once you get to 30, all those little niggling injuries get worse and it’s much easier to have an off day. Yet she seems to be playing her best tennis right now.”

Williams currently have 17 Grand Slam titles and is now just one Slam away from tying Navratilova’s haul of 18. Steffi Graf has the most Slam titles won in the Open era at 22. However, Court holds the record with 24 all time.

“At age 30, she had played about half the tournaments than I had played at 30, so she is fresh in tennis terms. But still, she is in her 30s… she is eager and winning is very contagious. Once you get really used to it, you don’t want to let go of it.”
