Roger Federer decides not to play in Davis Cup World Group tie versus Serbia

World number six Roger Federer has decided not to participate in the upcoming Davis Cup World Group tie against Serbia.

The Swiss Tennis Federation revealed that the team will be composed of world number eight Stanislas Wawrinka, Marco Chiudinelli, Michael Lammer and Henri Laaksonen. The Switzerland vs Serbia World Group tie takes place in Novi Sad on January 31, 2014.

Since 2004, Roger Federer has only participated in one World Group tie. However, he had participated in a number of play-off ties in order to keep his home team in the World Group zone. However, Switzerland has yet to win a Davis Cup title.

The Serbian Davis Cup team will be known as soon as possible. It is not known whether world number two Novak Djokovic will be present in this upcoming rubber.
