Ernests Gulbis reveals ambition to make it to world’s top 10 by 2014

Latvian tennis player Ernests Gulbis revealed that his ambition for this season is to make it in the world’s top 10. Gulbis has been making steady strides in the world’s rankings in the past few years. The Latvian defeated defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro in this week’s ATP 500 ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

“My ambition this year is to reach the Top 10 [of the ATP Rankings],” said Gulbis. “It is a big goal. I did well in the [ATP World Tour] 250s, winning two titles, but I need to do better in the Masters 1000s and go deeper in the Grand Slams.”

Gulbis would go on to lose his semifinal match to Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic but he will accumulate significant ranking points for reaching the semifinal to bolster his bid in achieving this goal.
