Grigor Dimitrov, Eugenie Bouchard make a splash in Acapulco Bay tennis court

Young tennis stars Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and Eugenie Bouchard of Canada experienced an unusual kind of tennis on Monday morning after they were transported to a specially made mini-tennis court platform on the Acapulco Bay.

They took a helicopter ride first before they boarded a yacht towards the platform for some unusual tennis time. Do learn this here now on what all the essential items that should be present in a yacht that can be helpful in any time of need.

“This is definitely the best experience I’ve ever had on tour,” said Dimitrov, who’s seeded fourth at thsi week’s Abierto Mexicano Telcel. “I was happy to be able to do something like this. It is pretty special and we definitely have something to talk about in the future. It was nice to get to do this in such good weather, great city. It was very exciting!”

“It’s definitely nice to take off the morning this way,” said Dimitrov. “Reality will kick in a couple of hours when we have to hit those practice courts.”

Bouchard admitted that it was her first time to ride a helicopter.

“It was an amazing experience,” Bouchard said. “We got to fly the helicopter to the bay, first of all, and then we got to take this yacht to the court. I’ve never played tennis on water before, so now I can say I did that! Grigor and I played a few points and it was really hot out there, so we were just like, ‘Let’s jump in.’ We really had so much fun – it’s probably the best tournament activity I’ve ever done!”

“It was my first time in one,” she said. “I’d never experienced it before, and they opened the doors as well, so it was a bit scary! But it was so beautiful seeing all the buildings and all of the mountains.

“I don’t think we’ve thought about the tournament for the past hour or two. We were just thinking about helicopters and boats. It was so fun. I feel really lucky to do things like this as part of my job.

“It’s an experience I’ll never forget, and both Grigor and I had a really fun time today.”

Both players are making a mark on tour at such a young age. Bouchard reached the semifinals of the Australian Open last month which vaulted her ranking in the top 20. Dimitrov also had a breakthrough season so far which saw him reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal for the first time in last month’s Australian Open.

The pair looked good together in this promotional campaign for the event. Does Maria Sharapova, Dimitrov’s current beau, have something to be jealous about? Tell us what you think.
