Juan Martin Del Potro to defend Rotterdam title despite wrist injury scare

Despite the ongoing news that Juan Martin Del Potro is undergoing treatment from wrist injury, the Argentine is expected to defend the Rotterdam title next week. The ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament is an ATP 500 event. Del Potro is currently on a 20-day break from tennis in order to recover from the recurring wrist injury.

Del Potro won the Sydney International title earlier in January and was a favorite to win the Australian Open title but the Argentine crashed out in the second round. He immediately flew to the United States to see a doctor for wrist treament.

“The wrist (recovery) evolved according to Doctor Richard Berger’s forecast. After a gradual return to full practice, Del Potro can confirm his participation in the Rotterdam tournament where he will defend the title,” the statement said.
