Li Na gets honored by WTA, IMG in Beijing to celebrate recent milestones

China’s tennis superstar Li Na was honored in a special event organized by WTA and IMG in Beijing on Saturday. The 32-year old was honored for her recent milestones, namely, winning the Australian Open title last month, achieving a career-high world number two ranking in singles and many more.

The event was an unforgettable one as it included presentations, dinner and a question and answer session with the tennis superstar herself. Li Na talked about her road to success and her insights on achieving the world number one ranking. A special re-launching of her autobiography – Li Na: My Life also took place.

“I think we all have our own dreams, and when we realize our dreams, we should set new goals for the future,” Li said during the session. “My goal for this year was actually to win another Grand Slam, and I’m very lucky I made it in Australia, so right now I want win another Grand Slam title.

“Maybe it won’t happen this year, but I’ll do my best.”

“Li Na is a true champion in every sense of the word,” Ryan Sandilands, the WTA’s CEO of the Asia-Pacific, said. “She is a worldwide star and she has achieved great success on and off the court. Her legion of fans around the world also appreciate her victories, athleticism, fighting spirit and sense of humor. Her accomplishments are truly inspirational and will no doubt motivate the next generation to pick up a racquet and take Chinese tennis to even greater heights. I wish her all the best for the rest of the season as she competes on the Road To Singapore for the WTA Championships.”
