Novak Djokovic starts training for Dubai Tennis Championships 2014

World number two Novak Djokovic has started training for the upcoming Dubai Tennis Championships which is scheduled to begin on February 24 at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in the bustling Middle Easterncity. In his official Facebook page, Djokovic posted a video of himself working hard during training earlier this week in Monaco. It’s not just work for Djokovic as he also spent quality time with friends.

The six-time Grand Slam titlist is hoping to successfully defend the Dubai Tennis Championships title in order to avoid losing ranking points once more and increasing rival Rafael Nadal’s lead over him in the rankings. The Serbian tennis superstar has not played since the Australian Open 2014 tournament where he lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Stanislas Wawrinka.

A year ago, Djokovic overcame Czech player Tomas Berdych in straight sets in the final. He will be seeded first in the tournament that is packed with ATP stars such as Juan Martin Del Potro (number two seed), Tomas Berdych (number three seed) and five-time champion Roger Federer.
