Rafael Nadal won’t be playing in Buenos Aires, cites stomach virus as culprit

World number one Rafael Nadal announced that he won’t be competing at the ATP event in Buenos Aires which starts next week. The Spaniard, who injured his back during the Australian Open 2014 final (vs. Wawrinka), is reportedly suffering from a stomach virus.

“Sorry announcing my withdraw from B Aires. Fans & Tournament can’t be better but stomach virus didn’t allow practice today & tomorrow. I’m not ready.”

It can be remembered that a stomach virus also forced Nadal out of the Australian Open a year ago.

Nadal is still slated to compete at the ATP 500 event in Rio de Janeiro on February 17.
