World number one Serena Williams has reconsidered but eventually decided not participate at the BNP Paribas Open 2014 in Indian Wells which begins in March. It is well-known that Serena and older sister Venus have boycotted this event since 2002. However, reports arose that Serena Williams’ name has been placed in the entry list for this year’s edition but the American tennis superstar has made her decision by releasing this statement:
“After careful consideration, I will not return to the Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open this year. I send my best wishes to everyone involved with the tournament.”
