WTA Family Circle Cup 2014 tournament field complete

The Family Circle Cup 2014 main player draw has been completed this early, indicating a tough field for the WTA stars. The 42nd edition of this claycourt event takes place from March 29 to April 6.

According to the press release, three of the world’s top ten have committed to this event, including defending champion Serena Williams, Jelena Jankovic and Sara Errani.

“The competition for players has increased dramatically over the last few years, and we are extremely happy with not only the quality of our player field, but the depth of our player field,” said Bob Moran, General Manager and Tournament Director, in the press release. “From our two time defending champion Serena Williams, to next generation players like Sloane Stephens and Eugenie Bouchard, this field has something for every fan. ”

World number one Serena Williams is gunning for a fourth title in this premier event. She’s a two-time defending champion and first won the title back in 2008. Her older sister Venus Williams, a former champion as well (2004), will also be competing as well.
