Andy Murray to receive honorary degree award from Stirling University

Scottish tennis star Andy Murray is reportedly in line to receive an honorary degree award from Stirling University, according to a report from The Courier.

The Wimbledon 2013 champion is said to receive the award when he visits the university sometime next month. The honor just comes just a few months after his mom, Judy Murray, received a similar award for her outstanding contribution to tennis and to charitable causes.

A source has said to the daily that Murray has never gone to a university due to his career as a professional tennis
player and added that the tennis star is elated with the award.

The 26-year old is also scheduled to personally open his five-star hotel Cromlix House in Perthshire.

“One of his biggest tennis strengths is being quick around the court — but this is something else,” the source said.

“He doesn’t want to let anyone down, especially as this is his home patch and he is only back for one day.”

Stirling University officials has yet to confirm this development.
