British player Ross Hutchins named new Queen’s Club Tournament Director

British player Ross Hutchins has been officially named as the Tournament Director of the Queen’s Club Tournament, a grasscourt event that serves as warm-up for the Wimbledon tournament.

Hutchins, who is currently active on tour after recovering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2013, will be replacing Chris Kermode for the role. Kermode was recently promoted as the new chairman of the ATP.

In last year’s Queen’s Club tournament, Hutchins managed to raise nearly half a million dollars via a charity tennis match called Rally Against Cancer during the event’s final day.

“The way Ross threw himself into organizing the charity match last year at a time when he was going through chemotherapy, was an inspiration. Everyone likes Ross, and his drive, determination, passion and positive attitude will ensure he is a huge success in this role,” Kermode said in a statement on Wednesday.
