Maria Sharapova joins A-list athletes at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum Hong Kong

Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova joins A-list athletes at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. This development was made known by the officials from the popular tourist attraction in the Asian city.

Tennis fans will now have a chance to be up close and “personal” to the life-like wax figure of Sharapova.

“Sharapova will be the first tennis star to be part of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and tennis fanatics can challenge her in a game of tennis with the interactive experience. We are excited to welcome Sharapova to the attraction and we hope to bring in many more rising stars from the sports world this year,” says Kelly Mak, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

Sharapova started playing tennis at the young age of four but grabbed global tennis headlines back in 2004 when she defeated Serena Williams in the final of the Wimbledon Championships at the age of 17. She would go on to win additional three Grand Slam titles and complete a rare Career Grand Slam in singles – with wins at the 2006 US Open, 2008 Australian Open and 2012 French Open.

Sharapova’s wax figure will be placed in “The Champions” area with other A-list sports celebrities such as Yao Ming and David Beckham.
