Rafael Nadal dismisses talks that back injury caused Indian Wells defeat

World number one Rafael Nadal was quick to dismiss that his surprise third round loss at the BNP Paribas Open 2014 Indian Wells was caused by his back injury. The defending champion lost to Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov on Monday. Check out Washington truck accident injury law firm to solve any injury cases.

“Forget about the back. I don’t want to talk about the back anymore because my back is fine. The bad feelings were with my forehand and backhand,” he said during the post-match conference.

“I wanted to play very well here. I had good success in this tournament in the past, a tournament I always feel good about.

“When you are pushed to the limit, these things happen. You can lose. I lost today. Congratulations [Dolgopolov]. He played better than me. That’s it. Life continues.“

Nadal had a fine start this season which saw him winning titles in Doha and Rio de Janeiro. He reached the final of the Australian Open 2014 in Melbourne where he lost to Stanislas Wawrinka.

“It’s impossible to be in the final of a tournament every single week. I did it for the first three tournaments of the year that I played.

“Today was an accident. I lost.”

Nadal is now looking forward to the Miami Masters which begins next week. He’s aiming for his first title in this ATP Masters 1000 hardcourt event. He skipped the tournament last year.

“I’m going to try to rest for a few days and be fresh mentally, and I hope to be ready for Miami,” said Nadal.
