Serena Williams keeps tabs on Indian Wells 2014, compliments Sharapova’s tennis outfit

World number one Serena Williams may not be playing at the BNP Paribas Open 2014 Indian Wells but it is clear that she’s keeping tabs on the players on the tournament. In a recent tweet, the American said she loved the outfit worn by Maria Sharapova.

I’m loving Maria S Nike outfit. #approved #supercute

After winning her opening round match at Indian Wells, Maria Sharapova was asked her thoughts about Williams’ tweet. The Russian was surprised with the development.

“Really? Are those her exact words, totally cute?” Sharapova said.

“I think we have to exchange designs,” Sharapova said. “We have to design an outfit for each other, without knowing – that would be fun to do, without telling each other what it is, just unveiling it.”

Sharapova ruled out the possibility of wearing a catsuit in her future matches, the same thing that Williams did back at the 2002 US Open.

“Well, I have to put an end to the idea of the catsuit on me,” she replied.

“I’m 26 already, so I think those days are over.”

Does she pay attention to what the other players are wearing?

“Yeah, I love it,” she said. “I think it’s fun to compare and critique – and gossip about it!”
