Stanislas Wawrinka returns from monthlong break with victory at Indian Wells

World number three Stanislas Wawrinka won his opening round match at the BNP Paribas Open 2014 Indian Wells tournament on Saturday after the Swiss eliminated Ivo Karlovic 6-3, 7-5. Wawrinka is still undefeated this season, compiling a 12-0 record so far. The new Swiss number one player won the Chennai Open and the Australian Open in January.

Wawrinka did not face a break point during the match and matched the big serving Croatian’s aces with eight. He will next face Italian Andreas Seppi in the third round after he defeated American Sam Querrey 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.
