Victoria Azarenka pulls out of Sony Open Miami for second straight year

Two-time Sony Open Miami champion Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from this Premier Mandatory event that begins on Tuesday, citing ongoing foot injury. This announcement was made on Wednesday. Last year, the Belarussian pulled out this event with an ankle injury which means she won’t be losing any ranking points by the end of the tournament.

Azarenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, played for the first time in over a month on Friday at the BNP Paribas Open 2014 Indian Wells where she lost to American Lauren Davis.

The world’s top 10 men and women (except Azarenka) are slated to compete at Key Biscayne.
