Andy Murray becomes emotional after receiving hometown honor

Andy Murray became emotional after accepting an award from his hometown of Dunblane.

The British tennis star, who won the Wimbledon title last year, was given the “freedom of Stirling” by the local council. He was seen trying to control his emotions during the ceremony held at the Dunblane High School.

“I think everyone knows I’m extremely proud of where I come from,” he said, his voice cracking.

“Moving away was one of the sacrifices I had to make for my job and every time I come back it’s quite emotional,” he added.

Murray also received an honorary degree from the University of Stirling.
