ATP St. Petersburg event to relocate to Tel Aviv, Israel

Starting this 2014, the ATP Tour 250 event that takes place annually in St. Petersburg, Russia will now be taking place in Tel Aviv, Israel following the announcement made by ATP this weekend.

“After 19 memorable years in St. Petersburg, the time has come for us to take the tournament in a new direction. We are very excited about the opportunities that lie in Tel Aviv and look forward to holding a successful event in September,” said Tournament Representative Ruslan Linkov.

The tournament will be staged at the Israel Tennis Center located at Ramat HaSharon from September 15 to 21, 2014. Despite being a 250-level event, the tournament promises a staggering total prize money of $1 million. This will be the first time an ATP event will take place in Israel since 1996.
