Monte Carlo Masters finalists Federer, Wawrinka warm up together prior to title showdown

Good friends Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka warmed up together prior to the Monte Carlo Masters 2014 title match on Sunday. Federer revealed that despite having to fight for a title, this did not hinder their friendship as they hung out together in the eve of the match.

“I have no problems warming up with Stan,” said Federer. “I will relax tonight and have dinner with Stan, who has his wife here,” he added.

The Monte Carlo Masters 2014 final featured an all-Swiss showdown, which was a first since the 2000 Marseille tournament where Federer lost to Marc Rosset. Federer would go on to lose the Monte Carlo Masters title via a three-set loss. Despite the defeat, Federer said that he’s happy for Wawrinka to have finally won his first career ATP Masters 1000 title.

Federer still leads their head to head series at 13-2.
