The total prize money for the Roland Garros 2014 tournament will rise to €25,018,900, which is an increase of €3 million from the 2013 edition.
The winners of the men’s and women’s singles competition this year will each receive €1,650,000, an increase of 10 percent from last year.
The early round losers will also benefit from the prize increase. Those players eliminated in the second, third and fourth rounds will see their prize money rise between 20 to 25 percent compared to last year’s.
“This significant raise in the prize money at Roland Garros is part of the four-year plan which we established for 2013–2016,” said Gilbert Ysern, tournament director and Director General of the FFT. “It is specifically designed to benefit players who are knocked out in the first week.”
