Wimbledon 2014 will feature 10 percent increase in prize money, singles winners to receive £1.76 million each

The players participating at Wimbledon 2014 will receive a total of £25 million in prize money, thanks to an increase of 10.8 percent in the prize purse (or £2.4 million). The All England Club officials also revealed on Tuesday that there’s also going to be an increase of 12.5 percent in prize money for singles players losing in the first three rounds of the competition.

The singles champions will each receive £ 1.76million, an increase of £160,000 or 10 percent from last year.

The doubles prize money increased by 8.7 percent while the prize money for mixed doubles rose 6.1 percent.

The Wimbledon 2014 Championships takes plac efrom June 23 to July 6.
