Roger Federer to participate at French Open 2014

Roger Federer has ended weeks of speculations after confirming that he will be participating at this year’s edition of Roland Garros. The Swiss Maestro pulled out of Madrid Masters last week in order to spend time with his wife who just gave birth to twin sons Leo and Lenny.

“Roger plans on playing Roland Garros and he will make a decision at the last minute if he will play Rome depending on how everything is going with his family,” Godsick was quoted by ATPWorldTour.com

Federer has taken part in a record 57 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments. This will be his 16th consecutive appearance at the French Open. He completed a career Grand Slam back in 2009 when he won the claycourt Slam event in Paris. He lost in the quarterfinals last year to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Federer had a promising start of the claycourt season, reaching the Monte Carlo final where he lost to compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka. He’s made a last minute decision to take part in this week’s Rome Masters.
