Roger Federer posts 60th career win at French Open, sets Grand Slam streak

World number four Roger Federer became the only male tennis player in history to win at least 60 matches or more in each of the four Grand Slam events.

The Swiss tennis star won his 60th career match at this week’s Roland Garros 2014 tournament after eliminating Diego Sebastian Schwartzman.

The 2009 champion in Paris now has a 60-14 record at Roland Garros; 73-11 at Australian Open; 67-8 at Wimbledon and 67-9 at the US Open.

Federer was challenged by the 109th-ranked qualifier but pulled through in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

“I think it was kind of tough all the way through for me,” he said. “I didn’t feel relaxed for the entire match… He managed to put pressure on me and keep the pressure on me.”

Up next for Federer is Dmitry Tursunov of Russia in the third round.
