WTA Championships to be re-branded as WTA Finals

The year-end WTA Championships will now be re-branded as the WTA Finals. Included in the changes are extensive event changes and an new brand identity which is “On Top of the World.” This will be implemented this year moving forward.

The WTA Finals 2014 will take place on October in Singapore.

“We have the best athletes in the world, who are truly global citizens, and who are major figures in the entertainment world, they transcend sport,” Stacey Allaster, the Chairman & CEO of the WTA, said on Tuesday this week.

“The WTA Finals is the ultimate year-end event giving fans a unique sport entertainment experience where every match is like a final. Not only will the winner be crowned with the coveted Billie Jean King Trophy, but she will also be standing ‘On Top of the World,'” she added.

Singapore will host the prestigious year-end event from 2014 to 2018. The event has been extended to a 10-day event filled with sports entertainment and of course the main competition. Aside from the WTA Finals, the WTA Rising Stars Exhibition, WTA Legends Invitational, WTA Future Stars junior competition and Fan Festival will take place.
