After a three-month absence on tour, former top-ranked Victoria Azarenka will be back in action at the courts in this week’s Premier-level Aegon International in Eastbourne. Azarenka is seeded fourth in this event after accepting a wild card in this crucial Wimbledon warm-up tournament.
The last time Azarenka played was at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells last month. She missed the claycourt season including the French Open.
Azarenka is a two-time Australian Open champion and two-time US Open finalist. She is a two-time semifinalist at Wimbledon.
“I’ve worked hard to rehabilitate my injury and to get fit for my return,” Azarenka said.
Azarenka was a finalist in Eastbourne back in 2010 where she lost to Ekaterina Makarova.
