Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine revealed that he won’t be taking part in the North American hardcourt season, including the US Open. This after the Ukrainian suffered a knee injury at the recently concludes Hamburg Open. The injury may require him to undergo surgery.
“I am really unhappy to announce that I injured my knee in Hamburg and I will probably need a surgery and will be out for 4-6 weeks,” he wrote on his Instagram account. “Disappointing, specially not playing the great event in Umag, the Us series and Davis cup play offs:((( hopefully il be back ASAP.”
The 25-year old lost in the third round of German Open last week to Tobias Kamke. He’s also dealt with a right thigh injury which forced him to pull out of his Queen’s Club quarterfinal match back in June but still participated at the Wimbledon tournament.
