Bouchard on course to make WTA Finals debut in Singapore

A stunning run to the Wimbledon 2014 final saw Eugenie Bouchard of Canada making a strong presence in the Road to Singapore leaderboard. The Canadian, now ranked seventh in the world, is now on course to make her debut at the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Earlier this year, Bouchard was present during the launch of the year-end championships at the Lion City. Singapore will be hosting the WTA Finals from 2014 to 2018. It is very fitting that she will be back by the end of the season to take part in this prestigious event.

Following her run at the All England Club, Bouchard is ranked number four in the Road to Singapore standings, overtaking top players such as Serena Williams. A strong run during the North American hardcourt season will cement her place in the eight-woman singles event which takes place in October.

“It’s definitely been one of my goals – when I made Top 20, in the back of my mind I was like, ‘Okay, the next step is Top 10,'” Bouchard said during the Wimbledon tournament. “And I’m happy to accomplish that, but there’s still a lot more to do for me. I still have a long road ahead of me to improve as a tennis player.

“If I do that well, hopefully the number will go up and the results will still come.”
