Eugenie Bouchard no longer friends with Robson

Wimbledon 2014 finalist Eugenie Bouchard confirmed reports that she’s longer friends with British tennis player Laura Robson. The two had known each other during their junior years and have reportedly stayed in contact frequently during those days. A year ago at the same tournament, Bouchard said that Robson is her “closest friend on tour.”

However, the 20-year old Canadian admitted that things have changed between the two. In the day prior to the women’s singles final, when asked if they are still friends, she said “No, I don’t think so.”

When prodded for more information, Bouchard simply said “I’m sure you guys can figure out that one.”

The two reportedly had a falling out after Bouchard convinced current coach Nick Saviano to work with her full-time. Saviano used to coach both players.

Robson is currently taking a break on tour following a wrist surgery and was in Wimbledon as a commentator for BBC.

Bouchard has stated in previous interviews that she’s not on tour to make friends.

“I don’t think the tennis tour is the place to have friends. For me it’s all competition,” she said during the French Open 2014 tournament.
