Kvitova, Bouchard shake up WTA Finals Singapore standings

The remarkable run of Eugenie Bouchard and Petra Kvitova to the final of the Wimbledon 2014 Championships will see a major shakeup in the WTA Finals Singapore standings.

Kvitova, the 2011 champion at the All England Club, had a less than stellar start of the season but managed to turn things around at this grasscourt Slam event. Kvitova had arguably the best challenge in the tournament in the third round versus five-time champion Venus Williams and she will be brimming with confidence as she faces first-time finalist Eugenie Bouchard of Canada.

Meanwhile Bouchard, the only player this season to reach the semifinals or better in the first three Grand Slam tournaments, will see her WTA Finals Singapore standings rise to at least number four. A title win will catapult her to number 3 which would almost guarantee her place in the year-end championships for the first time.

As for Kvitova, she was ranked 16th before the tournament started but her final run will see her standings rise to number 9, and will be number 8 with the title win.

Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep will still occupy the top 2 in the standings on Monday.

Rounding up the top eight will be Li Na (number 3 or 4), Serena Williams (5), Agnieszka Radwanska (6), Ana Ivanovic (7) and Dominika Cibulkova (8 or 9).
