Israel won’t host Davis Cup tie in September – ITF

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has decided that Israel won’t be able to host the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Argentina in September due to ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The World Group playoff between the two nations are slated on September 12 to 14 in Tel Aviv but won’t take place “due to concerns arising from the military conflict between Israel and Hamas.”

The ITF indicated that the tie will take place at a neutral venue outside of Argentina or Israel.

“The committee determined that, while the military conflict seemed to be slowing down, there was no certainty that this would be the case at the time of the tie that is due to take place in five weeks,” the ITF said in a statement.

“The committee felt that its first priority was to ensure the safety of the players, officials and the public and regretfully decided that the tie would not be held in Israel as originally scheduled.”
