Andy Murray joins inaugural Shenzhen Open tourney

Press release: World No. 11 Andy Murray has been awarded a wild card into the 2014 Shenzhen Open. The inaugural edition of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament will be played 20-28 September at the Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center, a state-of-the-art facility with more than 20 outdoor match courts.

Currently No. 11 in the Emirates ATP Race to London, the 27-year-old Murray will be looking to gain points in the upcoming weeks to join Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at the Barclay’s ATP World Tour Finals, featuring an elite eight-player singles field.

Murray said. “I am looking forward to competing at the Shenzhen Open, a new event on the ATP World Tour, and starting my first match of the Asian swing in China. I’m looking forward to a busy month in Asia and playing in front of the passionate fans out here.”
